If you’re a budding writer with a story to tell, join industry experts Diana Evans, award-winning writer, Women’s Prize shortlisted author and Women’s Prize X Grazia First Chapter Competition judge; Hattie Brett, editor of Grazia, Lucy Morris Curtis Brown literary agent and Discoveries judge; and Kishani Widyaratna, Commissioning Editor at Picador Books. They will discuss what it takes to build a literary career, demystify the publishing process, and reveal exclusive insider tips on how to get started on your writing journey – plus you will have the opportunity to ask the panel your questions.

Diana will also reveal the winner and runners-up of our tenth Women’s Prize X Grazia First Chapter Competition, selected from hundreds of entries.

Hattie Brett started her career on the features desk of Grazia in 2006, after doing her masters in magazine journalism at Cardiff university. She launched and edited Grazia’s first website, before going on to be Assistant Editor. She left for The Telegraph in 2015, and in 2018 returned to Grazia as Editor, where she remains today.

Diana Evans is the award-winning, bestselling author of Ordinary People, The Wonder and 26a. Her prize nominations include the Guardian and Commonwealth Best First Book awards, and she was the inaugural winner of the Orange Award for New Writers. A book of the year in the New Yorker, Ordinary People received the South Bank Sky Arts Award, and was shortlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction, the Rathbones Folio Prize and the Orwell Prize for Political Fiction

Lucy Morris is a literary agent at Curtis Brown. She joined in 2014 from Bloomsbury Publishing, and is actively building a list of commercial and reading group fiction, narrative non-fiction and memoirs.

Kishani Widyaratna is a Commissioning Editor at Picador Books where she publishes fiction, non-fiction and poetry. Her authors include Sarah Moss, Jackie Kay, Olivia Laing, Raven Leilani, Andrea Lawlor, Sinéad Gleeson and Julia Armfield. She is also a Contributing Editor to the literary magazine, The White Review.
